Desiccant Dehumidifiers
What Are They?
Desiccant dehumidifiers are relatively simple machines offering reliable and efficient removal of moisture for many different processes. It is the most cost-effective method of managing humidity.
How Do They Work?
Although consisting of only a few moving parts, the desiccant wheel is at the heart of the machine. Its structure is impregnated with silica gel to efficiently and reliably remove the moisture.
Dependent on the model, advanced control systems on the machines allow for automatic sensing and control of airflows, regeneration heater performance and rotor speeds, all from a simple PLC controller. These can then be linked to either internal or external control and/or plant BMS systems as required, so that performance and process conditions can be correctly met and controlled.
Where Can They Be Used?
- Pharmaceutical Production
- Food Industry Processing
- Cold Stores/Freezer facilities
- Waterworks
- General Humidity Management across a range of indoor spaces
- Across all industries and processes
What Are They Made From?
The standard construction materials for these machines are durable stainless steel, approved for high-hygiene use.

Regeneration of the desiccant wheel is achieved using electricity, steam or gas depending on availability. As the rotor material is the most efficient currently available in the market, the specific energy input for each kg of moisture removed is the lowest in the industry. Independent tests have shown that our desiccant wheel has an 8.5% better moisture removal capacity than the next best competitor’s product.
The advanced structure of the drying wheel also allows for this advanced moisture removal with a 25% reduction in pressure drop through the dehumidifier unit, allowing for the selection of smaller and more efficient fans and motors.
Optional Equipment?
Most of the desiccant dehumidifiers we are able to provide can be fitted with pre and post cooling or heating modules, heat recovery systems and condensing units where the location makes it difficult to take away the moisture.
